If the pope wants security ( and who doesn't?) he should stay in Rome. If he wants to visit Israel comes as a tourist not as a pontiff. Jews have no favor for or by the pope who's the head of one of the Jewish peoples worst offenders, right next to the fictitious pal. He can stay in Ramallah with his friends.... These two factions are the Jews first enemies. KEEP BUILDING !!!!!! pope stay in Rome.

Moral authority? You mean like protecting pedophile priests? How about Francis' silence at some of the outrageous attacks on Jewish institutions in Buenos Aires? Then again, one would expect no less from the Vatican. Most of the Nazi war criminals who fled Europe did so on Vatican-issued passports and headed straight for .... wait for it .... Argentina. The pope only has moral authority to the billion or so sheep stupid enough to vest him with that authority. The Vatican is the most totalitarian structure in the world -- a totalitarian hierarchy cannot, by definition, be a moral authority. When you write your own rules and then expect people to adhere to them because your rules do not require you to engage in debate or explain anything, you are not a moral authority for anything. A pack of wolves has more moral authority than the pope. But you wouldn't know -- you're just a faithful sheep, aren't you? Too bad for you, but quite nice if you can't be bothered to do your own thinking or are incapable of formulating your own thoughts. In your case, I suspect, both would apply.

With all due respect, Mr. Dajani, I beg to differ. The Dajani-Daoudi family does not own the building, but are merely the keeper of the keys to the building. The keys have been entrusted to the family for over eight centuries, if I recall correctly. The terms of the arrangement have always been that while the Dajani-Daoudi family may HOLD the keys, they may not OWN the property. Please do not disseminate a falsehood.

can anything positive come out of this bottomless religious-political morass ?? Sure seems like a good case for spreading secularism... and jettisoning pointless religious baggage.

This snarky attitude towards other religions does not speak well of you or the other Zionists. Perhaps the Lord will grant your wish and you will sit in your abandoned stretch of wasteland, alone and unaided but oh so happy to have it all to yourselves at last. The Pope is a man of good will and I am sure other Israelis will be welcoming. You and the others like you who despise everyone and everything should just shut up and sit in the dark--alone.

Our country; our rules. Don't like it? Too bad. Go play in the Vatican cesspool instead. They'll just LOVE having another man around. Fresh meat. Too bad you aren't an altar boy.

If the Pope is a man of good will he then should return all the things that the church has stolen from the Temple and return them to Israel.Love the reply to your post by Sarah B.

Ooh, one more thing. "Abandoned stretch of wasteland?" Hardly. Well, it used to be. Centuries of being an ignored backwater of the Ottoman Empire being largely responsible. The Palestine that greeted the Jews of the First and Second Aliyot was indeed a dismal place. Malarial swamps to the north. Unforgiving desert wasteland to the south. Not much of anything in between. But the Jews changed all that. They drained the swamps. Pushed back the desert. Lovingly restored the land which centuries of neglect had turned into a most unforgiving place. And yes, we would be more than delighted to have OUR land to OURSELVES. We don't really want a terrorist rabble in our midst. But riddle me this: Where was your outrage when the Jordanians destroyed forty-eight synagogues in Jerusalem alone? Wasn't all that hunky-dory for Christians either, between 1948 and 1967. Christian worship was almost never permitted. Christian churches were allowed to fall into shocking disrepair. Would you be shocked to learn that one of the prime objectives of the Jewish State following the reunification of Jerusalem in June 1967 was the restoration of Christian holy places? Did you know that the Kotel was used by the Jordanians as a garbage dump? Where is your denunciation of the Arabs over that? I am heartily sick and tired of people such as yourself. You never let us live in a great many places outside of Israel. So, we have our state back, and you seem to think that you have the right to tell us how to live in our country. Moreover, the pope is not a man of good will. He is the object of near-worship by a great many people who cannot afford any more children than they already have, but the Vatican tells them that they cannot use reliable contraception. People are stuck in marriages that just don't work, some of them shockingly abusive -- physical and psychological -- yet the Church continues to tell them that to leave such a marriage is morally repugnant, because marriage is a sacrament. The Vatican is probably the single richest institution on the face of the earth -- so why is it that the overwhelming majority of Roman Catholics live in abject penury? Quite a few Roman Catholics just don't know where their next meal will come from. The pope enjoys Michelin-quality meals each and every day. That may be your idea of "good will." It certainly isn't mine. And how do you account for the fact that no pope has EVER referred to Israel as the State of Israel? It's always just the "Holy Land." Francis should just stay home and mind his own business. Or has the Roman Catholic church suddenly run out of things to do? We're not the ones sitting in the dark -- just you, bound to an institution that is corrupt, immoral, amoral and outright criminal. So you really do need to shut up.

Thank you. The only thing worse than a whiny "Palestinian" is a sanctimonious Catholic. There are far too many of both.

if you know anything about Judaism then you would know that the the Treasures of the Temple of Solomon were plundered and torched by the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar II in the sixth century B.C.E. - but don't take my word for it go look in the Bible! A note about time the sixth century B.C.E. is ten (10) centuries BEFORE the establishment of the Papacy and the Vatican. A note about ethnicity Babylonians are neither Romans nor Italians. A note about religion Babylonians were not Catholics, Catholicism hadn't been invented when they stole the temple treasures. So which one of you is going to "fess up and Face up" to the fact that you are 'just' angry ignorant fools!

There is an abundance of documented evidence that the Crusdaders, acting at the behest of the Vatican plundered what is today the Al Aksa mosque and the Jewish artifacts that were buried beneath. There are separate indications, both writings from the Templars and the Hospitalers, which make the same claim. So, what do you think is more likely to be true: denials from the Vatican or the private diaries of individuals who were actually witness to the thefts? By the way, there were two temples; not just one. Didn't you know that? Of course you didn't. You're an idiot.
