1. Religious holidays are for your home, not for a public place

Holidays need to have historical meanings, such as declaration of independence, signing an agreement to end a war, or landing on the moon. Yom kippur is not a historical day with meaning to a wide public, so it cannot be the basis for a UN holiday. Neither is Christmas a historical day.
Personally, I like the day of Yom Kipur for bike riding on freeways and wish there was a day like this every month. Maybe yom kippur can serve the basis for a Clean Air holiday, a day without car exhaust emissions?

While Christians are nearly 1 in 3, at 2.3 Billion, and Muslims are nearly 1 in 4, at 1.6 Billion, out of 7.2 Billion total population worldwide.
