News flash! No one wants Gaza. It's full of violent "palestinians." The mistake is in thinking that just because the "palestine" authority wants nothing to do with Gaza, it will somehow be enough to keep Israel from sending West Bank Arabs there.
It won't. If Abbas thought that his embracing of Hamas would be useful as leverage against Israel, he thought wrong. Israel will capitalize on his poorly chosen political move. We will annex Judea and Samaria, and we will deport the "palestinians" illegally squatting therein to Gaza.
Lip service is one thing. We're going to send Abbas & Co. to Gaza, where they can work on their "unity government." Did Abbas really think that Israel would tolerate having terrorists arrayed against us on two borders? Well, it wouldn't be the first time that the "palestinians" have fallen victim to delusions of their own making.
But it will be the last. And the big winner here? Why, that would be Jordan. Israel is about to yank Jordan's chestnuts out of the coals with respect to the serious and immediate threat poised by ISIS or, as they are now calling themselves, the new "Caliphate." No one else cares, you see. Certainly not the inept Moslem-in-chief in the White House.
No, Israel has the perfect opportunity to make Jordan even more dependent upon Israeli military might. We'd be fools not to take advantage of the opportunity, which will be a blessing to the Kingdom and to the Gulf States. Whether we choose to demand something beyond quiet thanks is something for down the road. But you can expect to see a sudden support from the most unlikeliest quarters for a "palestinian" state in Gaza. They've anticipated just that as the new geopolitical reality for the "palestinians" for quite some time.
The chickens have come home to roost. The days of unqualified Arab financial support for the "palestinians" is long over. It appears that unqualified Arab lip service for the "palestinians" is about to come to an end, too. The dominant Arab powers in the region are the Kingdom, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The rulers of the Kingdom want to keep their palaces and luxurious lifestyles. Abu Dhabi and Dubai want to keep their new-found status as the new Arab financial capital (bye-bye Lebanon, forever) and as headquarters of Western commercial interests in the Gulf. The Saudis can't, because they don't really want foreigners -- especially Westerners -- any more than necessary, and Islamic banking laws, by which the Saudis are chained, are far too complex. Abu Dhabi and Dubai suffer no such constraints. If you look at how many American and British law firms have opened offices in Abu Dhabi and Dubai -- well, they've expanded operations there even more than they did in Russia and China. And that's quite a lot.
The death knell for the "palestinians" has been sounded. No one likes a terrorist, after all, and the "palestinians" have never been able to attract a leadership that isn't closely linked with terror. The Arab Gulf States and the Kingdom need Israel. Far more than they need -- or want -- the "palestinians."
The "palestinians'" days in the sun are over. They'll have to make do with Gaza. This verbal diatriabe stemming from Hamas is nothing more than a desperate attempt on the part of Hamas to maintain some sort of terror-driven hegemony in Gaza. That's going to be tough to do, in view of the fact that Israel controls the Strip. And the noose is subject to tightening without warning. Hamas is in a terrible bind. They severely miscalculated Israel's response to the kidnapping of three Jewish boys. Those boys had better come home alive. Because if they don't, Gaza dies, too.
Game, set, match -- to Israel.
