An ally does not "demand" that its partner stop fighting its enemies, and accept a surrender when it is winning-- an ally imposes terms of surrender on the enemy, not on its friend. We all know this-- it is a matter of basic human decency-- but Ms. Psaki ignores it out of the same contempt for us that lead to the offensive conduct by Kerry and Obama in the first instance. And of course the Israeli government tries to downplay the hostility, because Israel needs and cherishes American friendship. The truth is clear. Israel is a friend of the United States, and deeply requires and desires the alliance, cooperation, and friendship. The administration is contemptuous of Israel, and willing even to blame Israel for earning their contempt. This is a familiar pattern from the Obama administration-- dating back to the orchestrated diplomatic eruption that happened in 2010 when Biden took "offense" at Israel's construction in Jerusalem during his trip, and everyone from the White House press secretary to David Petraeus was enlisted in a media campaign against the Jewish state. The relationship survived without Israeli capitulation then-- and hopefully it will continue to survive without capitulation.

Criticizing Israel is what makes the world go round, it's the oil of the political machinery, the moneymaker for newspapers & booksellers, the job guarantee for journalists, the life saver for terrorist leaders, the talk of the day for UN/EU imbecils etc.etc., but that's of course a different story. Poor old Kerry he doesn't handle rejection very well. He presented a pro Hamas ceasefire plan and was criticised over it and now it looks like we have hurt his feelings by rejecting it. The US has a president that just wants everybody to love him and a very sensitive secretary of state.
