Gaza does not have the raw materials or foundary resources to produce and fabricate the high tensile steel alloy casings for Fajr-5 missiles. These were smuggled in by Iran via Sudan, as Israel has demonstrated by capturing two of the ships. Other rockets of this class were disassembled in Iran and smuggled in pieces for reassembly in Gaza. Further, the military grade rocket propellant used by Fajr missiles can not be duplicated in Gaza, they lack the chemical intermediates or a way to make them. Large Fajr rockets can not be fueled by the sugar-nitrate fertilizer mixtures used for small kassams, that technology is not scaleable. Iran has been smuggling the propellant grains through Sinai, along with the other Fajr components - all in violation of the demilitarized status of the Sinai and in violation of arms trafficking sanctions imposed by the UN on Iran. Israel must demand and receive stronger US and UN sanctions on Iran to prevent a recurrence, as a precondition to allowing any rebuilding aid or supplies into Gaza. Likewise, Gaza must unconditionally surrender all its rockets and Iranian-supplied weaponry and factories or forget about getting anything across the Israeli crossings except humanitarian beans and rice. The electricity used to run rocket factories and tunnel excavating machines should also stay off until they credibly disarm. Until they give these up, the blockade must be dramatically strengthened, not removed. Gaza can not expect to enjoy the benefits of peace while waging war against Israel. If Obama doesn't like these terms for Gaza, Israel should ignore him - his security promises and guarantees are just as worthless as his threats and his redlines. The US Congress and the American people support Israel, it matters not what our boob in the White House thinks. He has lost credibility with the Amecan people as well as with Israel.
