1. If no demilitarization, this is just a hudna.
David ,   Hartford USA   (08.12.14)
Netanyahu had better not throw away Israeli blood so easily. No demilitarization? That just gives Hamas time to rearm and rebuild with better weapons from Iran. Bibi had better find his balls and demand demilitarization or the whole thing is off. Either Hamas rips up its charter and becomes non-violent, or Israel must complete the job. Better to finish off Hamas today than to let it fester for a few years and to come back stronger (with IS help) to cause more terror.
2. Soldiers who died killed Hamas Neonazis
Zechariah   (08.12.14)
The Soldiers who died killed many Hamas Nazi Admirers. They Unearthed Tunnels Preventing Nazi Admirer Attacks and ought demand the Jews build deep nuclear shelters for their People.
3. Cease Fire talks
Judy Freed ,   Beer Sheva, Israel   (08.12.14)
So "construction materials will enter Gaza under close supervision". By whom? And will they be supervised constantly to ensure that they are actually used for civilian purposes?
4. Why Israel pay govt salaries when Gaza electricity
barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (08.12.14)
bill not paid to us? Any why not demilitarization? We should demand that all of Hamas leave Gaza for other lands. Let them get practice in Syria. Bibi, don't agree to anything. We've got the power to crush them - leave out world opinion. Remember - survival the fittest.
5. HAMAS WINS
Dan ,   USA   (08.12.14)
Israel's government has just enabled Hamas to walk away, once again, as winners. I've asked this question before: Are there no politicians in Israel that put Israel first, who could win an election and are not worried about what the UN, EU or Obama wants to dictate?
6. No Hamas Demilitarization?
joyce fraser ,   USA   (08.12.14)
Not very wise. Expect ANYTHING BUT a good outcome. And what will the toll be later?
7. Something smells fishy here...
Shep Fargotstein ,   Memphis, TN - USA   (08.12.14)
I can't fathom that PM Netanyahu would allow Hamas to keep their missiles AND let them have ANY concessions - except if Obama was putting extraordinary pressure on him - and if that is the case, it should be in made public. Either way, it shows weakness and will bite Israel on the ass much harder down the road. I don't believe it.
8. Realistic results
spyguy ,   seattle usa   (08.12.14)
For those Israelis that want demilitarization, they may as well wish for all of Israel to colonize Mars. It is NOT going to happen and it is 100% impossible for the IDF to make it happen. All military organizations have very hard and fast limits and the IDF has reached its limits. The IDF has so brutalized the Palestinians, that no additional brutality will work and in fact now just STRENGTHENS the Palestinian resolve. Plus any more brutality by the IDF will isolate Israel to the point that the economy will collapse. Contrary to the ego-driven rhetoric coming out of Israel, the country is NOT self-sufficient and MUST have trade with the rest of the world to survive. It is long past time for Israelis to stop being delusional.
9. So WHERE DO THE PEOPLE OF GAZA fit into all this
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (08.12.14)
What about Gazan Rights? OK for Israel and Hamas and Egypt... but is everyone forgetting THE PEOPLE OF GAZA? Because Hamas is NOT Gaza and Gaza is NOT Hamas. Lets no forget - Hamas are only the SERVANTS of the State So what about the BASIC GAZAN RIGHTS that have been trodden on for all these years? Does THAT not matter? Clearly not to that useless and incompetent organisation 'The UN Human Rights Council' who don't believe THAT is part of their remit! If there was ANY TIME to REWRITE THE HAMAS CHARTER TO UNDERPIN and GUARANTEE GAZAN RIGHTS - THIS IS IT Why aren't they talking about this in Cairo? In the UN, at Amnesty International, in the Whitehouse, in the EU all so 'commited' ti Human Rights except when it comes to people of Gaza. This is NOT an INTERNAL HAMAS MATTER This is about SAVING the people of Gaza from more years of corruption, violence, extremism, nepotism, terrorism, destruction and hopelessness Abandoning and ignoring the RIGHTS of the people of Gaza by NOT MAKING THE REWRITING OF THE MALEVOLENT AND TOXIC HAMAS CHARTER to properly reflect Gaza HUMAN RIGHTS to make it an integral part of any Agreement would be a sickening betrayal by the World Community who on the one hand decry the physical suffering of Gazans and on the other CHOOSE TO IGNORE THEIR FUNDAMENTAL HUMAN RIGHTS
10. Gazas D Day
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (08.12.14)
If Hamas has not extricated itself from the mess it created by starting this war and stopping it permanently August 20th WILL BE a HISTORIC TURNING POINT - Gazas D Day After August 20th - any day thereafter as plans are being made to mobilise, the People of Gaza Gazans WILL take to the Streets in their THOUSANDS IN FRONT OF THE WORLDS PRESS to DEMAND an end to the war and normalisation of relations with Egypt, Jordan and Israel Hamas may think they can intimidate or even execute anyone who doesn't tow the line..'act grateful' or have the 'stupidity' to demonstrate but Gazans are done with all that They have at last FOUND THEIR VOICE 8 Days left...and counting
11. is that it Bibi?
Anthony ,   usa   (08.12.14)
All those bombardments and killings were to give all the victory to hamas?? You could achieve that without firing a single bullet. what a mess! You must be out of your mind!! Israel should lower the flag to half. It's mourning day. A day all the arabs laugh at it. Israel is defeated officially! !!
12. Really
Michael ,   Seattle, USA   (08.12.14)
What exactly is Hamas giving in this deal? I guess if they shoot more rockets at Israel they can get the whole State of Israel as a form of punishment. P.s. Why don't you just spit on the fallen soldiers graves while you're at it! I do have an investment in this fight. My children and grandchildren live there.
13. Moat & Wall
Mark ben Josef ,   USA   (08.12.14)
Gaza needs a moat, about 50 meters wide and 100 meters deep that is fully filled at high tide. On its side of the moat, Gaza needs a 500 meter tall concrete wall (from the bottom of the moat.. No accidental shootings of farmers or accidental incursions.
14. Gaza must be a demilitarised zone.
DOV ,   USA   (08.12.14)
This article reads like the Hamas Bullies are running the show. Did we loose? Did the Hamas Internet warriors beat us down globally to the point of capitulation? I keep thinking of our dead soldiers who sacrificed their lives for peace was in vain. Put nothing on the table unless they demilitarise.
15. Hamas Victory
Mark ,   San Diego USA   (08.12.14)
What in the hell is wrong with you Israel? You let a rag tag bunch of sewer rats dictate terms and you cower in their face. For the first time ever I will utter these words. You will get what you deserve. Un Real. You disgrace your fore fathers who fought like men and took no prisoners.
16. Obama and Netanyaho
Amos ,   Canada   (08.12.14)
Two idiots in a pot. Unavailable. all these lives for nothing? and I thought the Americans were stupid for electing the clown president. The Israelis are no better.
17. lifting the embargo
Larry ,   LA (formerly)   (08.12.14)
The only thing permitted into Gaza should be water, medicines, and food stuff. Let them enjoy the hell that they created. DO NOT lift the embargo until Hamas is destroyed and a moderate peaceful leadership is installed.
18. We aren't done bombing!!!!!!!
Roxanne ,   Haifa   (08.12.14)
G*dd*mmit! Most Israelis want to take this to the end! DO IT!!!
19. No one can lose like Israel ! I would
DT ,   TA Israel   (08.12.14)
not have my sons die for nothing and the certainty that any Israeli Govt would not retake Gaza and finish Hamas once and for all.
20. eventually the savages of hamas will be destroyed
CJK   (08.12.14)
this goal cannot be achieved as long as the pro-islamist obama regime is still in power.
21. A message for Gaza people -
barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (08.12.14)
Overthrow Hamas leadership (get rid of them) - then we and the world will help you build a paradise - a tourist paradise like in Sinai. How's that for a compromise ?
22. Perhaps there is some logic
Miche Norman ,   Hod Hasharon   (08.12.14)
Obviously we all feel an attack of nausia - but lets look at the alternatives and the consequences - The only way that Hammas are ever going to disarm is of someone makes them - which means conquering Gaza with all that is entailed by that - so it was never going to happen. This agreement and the deterrance that we have created buys us time - enough time to develop measures against tunnels and against mortar rounds, both of which are scheduled to be avsailable within a year or two. Next time, perhaps, our government will be wise enough to close down the border crossings whenever something comes over the border.
23. Israeli ministers accomplices to Hamas, pay their salaries??
Pokey   (08.12.14)
24. spyguy
HENRY BONK   (08.12.14)
Obviously IDF has not brutalized Hamas sufficiently, for they are itching for more fighting. Comments by an enemy like you are hardly worth paying attention to. The fact that you support this agreement should make it immediately unacceptable to Israel, and you really don't know what Israel is capable of doing. Keep your advice and hope to the circle of the antisemites you belong.
25. Defeat boldly snatched from the jaws of victory!
moshe   (08.12.14)
Dozens of soldiers died and the whole country came to a standstill for two months just so the extremist left-wing Netanyahu government could surrender to Hamas at the negotiating table. Given these terms, I am tempted to check Netanyahu's bank accounts for bribe transfers and his home for a hidden Koran and prayer rug. Simply for permitting these terms to become the working term, the entire negotiating team should be immediately arrested and charged with treason.
