As the Palestinians don't seem to go for elections we'll never really know the relative standing. Nor do they seem to go in for a parliament for discussing such matters. All very odd for a democratic society.

4. reality and narrative
(08.19.14)
Too often people base their understanding on "narrative", another word for believing your own lies. The author of this piece is surprised because "Hamas leader Mashaal sees surge in popularity despite Gaza devastation". When one looks at reality rather that narrative, Mashaal's popularity is not surprising. In reality, there was in no meaningful sense "Gaza devastation". Something like 1000 dead Hamas soldiers and maybe 500 dead civilians in all of Gaza is a low number, compare to the number of dead required historically to traumatize a society. In addition, Hamas had an important victory: Obama's alliance with Hamas without Hamas having to give up their public goal of genocide of the Jews, something that Abbas had to hide to gain Obama's support.

It's only logical Hamas Mashal cane out looking like a hero, safe in his private jet he was making defiant speeches whist Abbas who is supposed to be Palestinian president said very little. Whilst the full facts are not in yet it looks like Mashal has won the war because what we know of the political situation so far Israel has surrendered to most Hamas demands under the guise of making concessions to Abbas not Hamas even if the outcome is the same.

11. Fatah is FAR more dangerous than Hamas.
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.19.14)
As cowardly and sadistic as Hama's is; we must never forget Fatah is FAR more dangerous. Fatah has maimed and murdered far more Israelis than Hamas. It's covenant is as genocidal as Hamas'. Both terrorist gangs must be destroyed.
