1. Stop the Settlements to Fund Defense
Zechariah   (09.03.14)
Defence is Paramount and the Settlements ought be stopped even sold . As for Health Education and Welfare there is alot of waste .a Military state needs to learn Tactics and have Weapons and only the Holocaust and Jewish Helplessness in WW2 ought be taught .The more gifted can learn math and science but the Jews ought be Geared for Revenge for the Shoah and in a Big Way.Every Jew killed except for the kapos has to be Avenged before the Messianic Era in Some Form Arrives .
2. Paying the Bill
Shemp Howard ,   Los Angeles - US   (09.03.14)
Only 9 billion dollars.. this would be chump change for Qatar to pay.. since they supported and paid for the Hamas missiles and tunnel construction.. it just takes one small thing for the Israel government to do... send the bill.. along with a note advising the Qatar princes about the alternative if the bill is not paid promptly..
3. cost effective
John ,   Boise, ID USA   (09.03.14)
For the next operation, a possible consideration is to push a little further south and east, confiscate a few hundred oil wells/refineries to offset the coast, and help the Muslim world out with fighting terror. In fact, one would think the Arab countries would be more than happy to contribute to the cause.
4. What? Pay soldiers on the basis of their
Avi L.   (09.03.14)
What? Pay soldiers on the basis of their performances, of the "level of their sacrifice"? What's this drek? A soldiers needs to get wounded or die to get more? what are they mercenaries or are they young citizens who volonteer to a dangerous task to defend our country? It is not enough to expose your life to ennemy fire? It is totaly out of mind ! It is a shame from a minister of Israel! It is the political echelon who chose not to have a clear vision of the situation, who passed down a confused briefing and foggy objectives to the army and that in the end, it is the politicians who on the brink of bringing down the enneny withdrewn from the field and gave victory to the jihadis. Start to pay politicians on their performances and NOT pay those who brought us down this disaster ! And Buggy? What does it mean that it costs? That's all he has to say?
5. yesterday it was $2.5 billion
zionist forever   (09.03.14)
Everybody seemed agreed the operation had cost $2.5 billion now overnight according to Yallon it cost $9 billion. Sound to me Yalon is trying to justify the need for a bigger military budget and the strategy is it cost us $9 billion, so we need more money to be able to fight these wars when needed so this id his starting point strategy to open negotiations. I think the war probably cost $3 - $4 billion maybe but not $9 billion especially as not all but most the money for ID interceptors was given by America.
6. He said 9 million Shekel, not Dollar!
Ehud   (09.03.14)
Yaalon's claim of 9 million Shekel costs is bad enough (others estimate less than 5!), but making it 9 million $ attests to ynets superficiality and incompetence
7. The guilty parties should pay.
Jerusalem   (09.03.14)
Needy people should be receiving constructive support. Bottom line, it's all the fault of Hamas and their supporters.
8. GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT
EZEKIAL HAIM ,   LONDON UK   (09.03.14)
Sorry Ehud, you are also wrong. Its 9 billion sheckels ,not millions.A billion is 1000 millions.
9. 100s of home, life burning ...over 2000 murdered....
Atilla Karagözoğlu   (09.03.14)
10. To Atilla (the Hun?), #9
Ehud   (09.03.14)
Some corrections: It was a million murdered, not 2000, by Turks, not Israelis, in Armenia, not Gaza. And in Gaza, there were about 1000 terrorists killed, not murdered, and unfortunately hundreds of Palestinians, some deliberately by Hamas (which Turkey supports), some by Hamas by recklessness (rockets exploding in failed launching attempts, civilians used as human shields), and unfortunately also by Israel - despite best efforts to minimize civilian losses. At least we achieved better results with respect to sparing civilian lives than NATO in the former Yugoslavia, than the US and UK in Iraq, and than the Turks in Kurdistan!
