Jay Ruderman / "US Jewry " apparently has an over-inflated or exaggerated sense of its own importance. The US has of course long supported Israel ,but not for the reasons Mr Ruderman imagines ,because it was/ is in the interests of the US to support Israel ,and vice versa. Incidentally , those of us who reside in Israel are eternally grateful and appreciative for the american support ,naturally . may G-d bless the United States.

we must learn from history. american jews did nothing to help during the holocaust. furthermore, many very wealthy american jews do not contribute any funds to help israel, not even the poor. the vast majority of american jews have never even visited israel. indeed, there are too many american jews who display open hatred for the jewish state. american jews who do support Israel are small in number. indeed, since the election of obama, their numbers are dwindling.

America is going the same way as France and other European states. It is only about 20 years or so behind. American Jews will flee "their" land, just as French Jews are.

US Jewry is fully depended on Israel not the United States. Because of Israel you Jay Ruderman live freely in the United States. All Jews live freely because of Israel. Jews outside of Israel lobby for Israel and ensure the American Congress doesn't forget Israel. The United States cannot surive without Israel. You have it wrong Jay Ruderman. It is because of Israel that you are alive today. I understand your view and your strong support for Israel. and thank-you for that. But Israel was born before you and before me.

Of course the Jewish community in the US is crucial to the state of Israel, but try to imagine what would this world be like for Jews anywhere on this globe, including in the US, without Israel. Anyone would be totally blind and dishonest to himself NOT to admit the importance of our one and only country, providing the backup and support for Jews anywhere and everywhere almost automatically. It's a "give & take" relationship, like it or not, admit it or not. Besides, please try to refresh your national memory from only 70 years ago, to an era without Israel, and think again if that is an option you would even consider, regardless of your personal political opinions and views.
