1. If there ever was a time to multiply like rabbits it is NOW!
(10.20.14)
Yes, it is a battlefield and as the diseased, cursed his disgusting memory, Arafat observed: "the Palestinian womb is our weapon" (or something to this effect) we must turn the Jewish womb into a shining sword with which we shall cut off the Medusa-like head of Islamic, barbaric occupation of our Land!
2. Shallow Article
sammy ,   Jerusalem   (10.20.14)
Dr Weiss has once again shown her shallow understanding of the torah. I myself, no great scholar, could easily refute almost every point she has brought up in this article. She mentions the God would very quickly come to regret his commandment. How pathatic can one be to think that God who had just created the world - an entity that even the greatest minds of the past couldn't begin to understand, did not know what would happen in the future. God has no regrets of the past. God is the past present and future all together.
3. The rabbinic domination of the womb vs.
Moshe   (10.20.14)
the doctor's domination of the womb. Ruchama, you should be more concerned and alarmed about doctor's domination of the womb and their murdering of thousands of healthy babies yearly, than whether to "be fruitful and multiply" is a blessing or a command.
4. Had you not been so ignorant and studied Rashi
Moshe   (10.20.14)
you would have learned that one instance is a command and the other a blessing. But then, how would you be able to slander our Sages? "Women's bodies are collapsing from the pain and suffering of the difficult deliveries" You make it sound like one woman has to deliver thousands or millions of babies and the only option is killing babies in the woman. What a warped analysis.
5. sorry, but...
Jake ,   Jerusalem   (10.21.14)
I don't think that Dr. Weiss understands the statements of the sages. As it has been passed down from generation to generation, the words of the sages are considered the 'Oral Tradition' meaning that when God gave the Torah to Moses, He gave Moses many understandings that were not in the written Torah, like, as an example what are tephilin, since we are told to put them on, but not what are they. Moses passed on this info to the sages who in turn kept passing it on orally until finally in the time of R. Yehud the Prince, it was committed to being written (instead of being oral only). So the sages did not re-invent the wheel, they passed along the tradition that was given at Sinai to Moses. The sages did not make the Womb the property of the men as Dr. Weiss seems to suggest. Rather it seems to me that Dr. Weiss does not accept Jewish tradition.
6. except
Onas   (10.21.14)
..we are not created in God's image because God does not have human shape or attributes. If God did then that would mean God goes to bathroom God needs haircut ..which is a blasphemy.
7. this writer doesn know nothing about Torah
jew ,   europe   (10.21.14)
and doesn even bother to check and search only one interest of this woman is slander Torah sages again and again..
8. Rabbis and the Womb
Joe ,   Israel   (10.22.14)
If by "domination" means control, then the Bible controls one's sex life by prohibiting pre-marital sex, sex with non-Jews, and even cohabitation with one's spouse, during niddah. The are other organs under "control" of the bible such as the mouth- eating non-kosher foods not speaking 'lashon hora': the list is endless. Solution? Give it all up for a life without restrictions.
9. Sick fool opposes women choosing not to have abortion
Mordechai   (10.22.14)
The Efrat organization doesn't force women not to have abortions it helps women through the challenges to allow them to choose not to have an abortion when other pressures like finances might cause them to have an unwanted abortion. But radicals like the author don't believe in choice they believe in abortion. And if a women chooses not to have an abortion its the wrong choice.
10.  The author seems very frustrated
Ann ,   Israel   (10.24.14)
This writer is so arrogant she talks about our Sages as if they were political contemporaries! Ans she is so ignorant too! I have a friend with 12kids she is so happy and she prays for more!! And i know also orthodox women who take contraception! This writer is frustrated
11. Kol Hakavod
Veronique ,   Israel   (10.24.14)
Finally someone who reads the text and tells it how it should be! Why have so many children, why destroy your body, why live in such abject poverty? I think that it is high time women reclaim their bodies, their procreation, and their right to demand and obtain a divorce!
