1. In pursuing such vigorous outreach to all Communities
Tim ,   Brighton   (10.29.14)
Could be Rivlins abiding legacy But lets get one thing clear Israeli Arab friends tell us that privately they are furious and resentful at the damage that Zoabi in particular has caused to Community Relations As one said recently..'over the years despite trials and tribulations as a Community we have progressed, we have become more inclusive, our children better educated, with better standards of living, outward looking..and along comes that Self Seeking Self Promoting Comedienne who wants to reverse and destroy it all'
2. Hard to beat Shimon, but this fool may achieve it!

3. No other choice?
(10.29.14)
Melamed forgets reality. Before 1992, Arabs and Jews worked together peacefully. The Oslo Accords stopped such peaceful coexistence and brought 22 years of almost continuous hostility and death. As for Melamed, she reminds me of Iraqi Yazidi, Christians and Kurds who not so long ago said "we will live together with our Sunni Muslim neighbors because there is no other choice", until they found out that there is another choice.
4. Good, courageous move... no downside.

5. Good article, thank you.

6. Israel needs to abolish presidential office
Chaim ,   Israel   (10.29.14)
Rivlin is sounding more and more like another foolish Shimon Peres. It is so easy to spout silly platitudes when there is never a cost for the president to pay. The unfortunate fact is that many Israeli Arabs are not on Israel's side. That is why they elect the likes of Zoabi. You can't force two essentially hostile peoples to pretend they like each other. Israel needs to abolish the presidential office. It does infinitely more harm than good.
7. peace
sam ,   chicago, usa   (10.29.14)
Peace is possible. We muslims, Christian s and jews are the children of Abraham. If we put the small differences aside we can love prosper and learn to love. I live in the west bank in the mid 80's when when the Arabs and jews lived worked and played together. The Arab population were not restricted to where they can travel or work. Unfortunately the oslo accords messed with this. We're the Arabs truly free, no but it was a better situation than we have now. A binational state can work. We did it before without it being called one, but with a lot of hard work and representatives from both sides, it can work. Would it hurt to try. Rivlin for prime minister, at least he has some new ideas for a new future, Wethersfield it works or not, at least he is willing to try.
8. The Arab minority in Israel
Moshe ,   Israel   (10.29.14)
Most of them view themselves as Palestinians, namely, the nation who strives in Gaza, West Bank and elsewhere, to destroy the Jewish state. As long as this conflict continues, it is dangerous to treat them as a separate peaceful entity. Their Knesset members corroborate this attitude toward them.
9. Wow. The Left hates and despises Israel with passion
Jake   (10.29.14)
and they are the ones with 'evil tongues' bearing tales about Israel to the nations. I knew that the Israeli/Jewish Left were self-hating, but this articles embodies more than anything just how much.
