1. How to play with fire:
Scharp ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (10.30.14)
I agree, we should be wise, we shouldn´t challenge the status quo. But I´m saying this with a heavy heart and troubling thoughts: it is hatred and fanaticism among certain muslims that is behind the attacks on jews on the Temple Mount. In a dreamworld - jews would be able to pray peacefully at some corner. But is also fanaticism that is behind the actions by certain jews. Maybe the Messiah one day will fix everything and bring peace and love. Until then I settle with Barnea: the state of Israel and the police have to be in charge, use their intelligence and weapons in order protect the status quo and fight terrorism. The leaders in Jerusalem and Amman have to foster a dialogue of mutual respect and cooperation.
2. Idealism and realism
Jake ,   Jerusalem   (10.30.14)
Life is too full of passive realist that fear to make any change. Only idealist people can actually bring about change for the best.
3. Right Wing
Sami ,   Jerusalem   (10.30.14)
Everyone knew that the practice of such acts are only playing with a bomb However these extremists continue recklessly ignoring all warnings and religious ban by leading rabbis in Israel and endangering themselves and others to the maximum risk possible
4. incorrect headline
(10.30.14)
Not so long ago, Jews could enter Temple Mount freely, and the Muslims did not dare to use it as a center for riot, incitement and violent attack on Jews. Since 1992, the Israeli government and the Islamist Wakf shattered the status quo, starting when Rabin allowed Jihad to build a huge mosque in "Solomon's Stables". Since then, sensitive archaeology finds are destroyed, Jews and Christians are barely allowed to visit, Jews undergo the most humiliating search and monitoring and are often assaulted and arrested, the Temple Mount regularly flies Jihadist flags, the Mosque used to incite violence, and store weapons and ammunition. All Glick wanted to do is restore the status quo, it is the Israeli government working with Jihad that changed it.
5. "Addiction"!!?? An objective person would say "commitment "!
Shadoil79 ,   Jerusalem   (10.30.14)
6. Hardly a word of condemnation against the would-be assassin
Jake   (10.30.14)
Typical Leftist attitude towards assassination victims who happen to be on the opposite side of the spectrum from them. The same happened when Meir Kahane was assassinated. The Leftist media acted relieved and gloated over his assassination and droned on and on about how bad and dangeous Kahane was, with barely a condemnation of his assassins, who by the way were the same folk who carried the first World Trade Center bombing. And the fact that this is done in the mainstream Israeli media in the name of "freedom of speech" is the real sin here.
7. Good decisions are always based on self respect and courage.
Chaim ,   Israel   (10.30.14)
The Temple Mount belongs to Jews. It has for thousands of years. Barnea is trying to scare Jews into ceding our rights to our most sacred land; in order to appease our foes. Good decisions are always based on self respect and courage. Leftists, like Barnea, are always trying to scare Israel into making dumb, self destructive decisions.
8. To #4 - but the chief rabbis says no no:
Scharp ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (10.30.14)
The ruling is that jews shouldn´t visit and pray on the Temple Mount, out of Halachic reasons. That ruling is in fact compatible with the political and diplomatic arguments - it´s not wise to provoke and challenge the status quo. Religious jews will pray at the Kotel until the messianic era begins. Meanwhile, secular jews do visit the Temple Mount, without causing riots with the muslims, although they cause pain and sorrow to the rabbis.
9. Balanced analysis?!
Truth and balance   (10.30.14)
Is this piece balanced??? Personally, I do not care who governs the Mountain, but the Palestinians had their share of turning it into an obstacle on the way to much needed peace. "In recent years, there has been a change on the Jewish side: Religious Zionists began visiting the Mount."? What about years of Muslim physical changes to the Mountain, including removal of Jewish symbols under the mosques, turning 'Solomon Stables' into prayer rooms using funds from a number of Muslim countries? What about throwing stones from the Mountain on people praying below? What about the Palestinians not allowing Israeli visitors on the Mountain, even if those are secular tourists? What about the denial of Jewish affinity to the mountain by the Palestinians, thus implying Zionists have no claim in Zion?
10. It has the power of turning our national conflict into a rel
BJL ,   USA   (10.30.14)
Thats is just it! It ALREADY IS and has been a religious war since day one! It is just that the secular Israeli dont want to see it. It is called cognitive dissonance. The Islamists (palestinians) will NEVER tolerate the shame of Jews in Eretz Yisrael and especially Jerusalem and Har Habayit! It IS a religious war according to THEM. Better own up to it and win it! Then rebuild the Temple!
11. Temple Mount
CJK   (10.30.14)
all of jerusalem was conquered by arab muslims. arab muslims had waged a thousand year imperial wars of conquest on three continents, converting native populations, and building mosques on top of native religious edifices. the arab muslims built a mosque on top of the destroyed jewish temples as a sign of conquest and religious supremacy. the temple mount does not belong to muslims. they should be allowed to pray there as a compromise but they should not be allowed to claim it wholly as their own. dayan made an enormous mistake when he handed over the temple mount to the Islamic waqf. secular leftist jews are unable to understand the supremacist ideologies of islam. dayan did not realize that he was making a strategic blunder.
12. the only solution will take alot of political courage
zionist forever   (10.30.14)
Governments can no longer operate this apartheid policy of banniing Jews visiting their holiest site to avoid angering arabs. The only just solution is to build a small synagogue at Temple Mount. No bar mitzvahs, political visits or flag waving just a small synagogue for Jews to go pray in peace. If a just solution like that is not found then we will eventually have a Jewish spring.
13. To: No. 3
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.30.14)
Do you truly mean to suggest that Jews should not pray in Jerusalem? It occurs to me that if we blow up that ugly blue eyesore, Moslems cannot pray in Jerusalem either. After that, we can start on the churches.
14. #1 Paradigm: when they destroy Jewish heart, Jew is dead
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   www.netzarim.co.il   (10.30.14)
Israel dies from the inside out. The external threats are a diversion from the greatest, most insidious, internal threat: apostasy.
15. Sarah B #13, Guess what, you're not helping
Jake   (10.30.14)
Indeed, our cause is just. But you're not doing it any justice by arguing on its behalf using all the wrong reasons.
16. a sane assessment...
Rafi ,   US   (10.31.14)
17. The real problem
Peyman Farzanfar ,   New York, USA   (10.31.14)
yea, you should avoid it...Its the same ghetto Jewish mentality that landed the Jews of Europe smack in the middle of the holocaust...Barnea, ppl like you are the problem not Rabbi Glick. No self respecting nation has its holiest of Holy's in the hands of fascist thugs like the Waqf. Jews have to be free to pray in their holy places and they will. Whether you or the Israeli government like it or not.
