A little Jewish xenophobia and wishful thinking make for entertaining reading. There are definitely long-term pressures on the high price of petroleum, but that's not what is driving the market today. When the Saudis get scared, they pump oil. This happened during the Iran/Iraq war. It's happening now with U.S. footdragging on Iranian nuclear talks and the growth of ISIS. Once these threats to the Kingdom recede, it will be back to business-as-usual. I'm figuring about 18 months. The author's vision will be realized some day. However, I don't think we are at the magical "breaking point" at this particular time; far from it. It would be nice if the author is correct, but I don't agree that this is the time and place where OPEC's influence on world petroleum prices ends. OPEC's influence on world petroleum prices will fade in a more gradual fashion.
32. Bechor is right on target

It is clear to any rational observer that oil rich Arab states can't hold the world hostage, as they did in the 1970s and 1980s. Bechor is right on target, like usual.

The general trend toward eroding OPEC's control of petroleum prices is clearly visible. Declaring OPEC's control dead-and-gone TODAY is severe overreach. Further declaring Israel uber alles is just rubbing salt in a non-existent wound... And a rather xenophobic. behavior. Shale oil & alternative fuels should moderate and stabilize petroleum prices. OPEC should be able to compete if they manage their business responsibly. Hopefully, the new fuels will deprive OPEC of surplus cash they have used irresponsibly. (Funding terrorism, Islamic imperialism, foreign corruption, etc.). Since these new fuels look to be a long term trend, I think it's possible that we might see the worst abuses starting to recede soon.
34. world oil

With the online article comment that Middle-Eastern oil countries losing power over World economy is the US going to stop the foreign oil trade of the USA Alaskan oil? Alaskan oil is traded, almost given to Russia and other countries under old international treaties. These treaties with Russia were made when it was the "primary governing" republic of the now-disolved USSR. New world-oil trade agreement have altered "world economy" making Alaskan oil a good answer to Middle-eastern oil treaties that need alterations.
