1. Burg
mb ,   modiin   (01.14.15)
Why anyone in Israel gives this nut-job a platform to speak is beyond me. He doesn't represent anyone anymore.
2. Sounds To Me Like He Joined The Green Leaf Party
Yishai Kohen ,   YeShA, Israel   (01.14.15)
And smoked everything they have.
3. WOW! I sure wish I had what Avrumela's smoking:)!
Shadoil79 ,   Jerusalem   (01.14.15)
4. absolutely insane!
oded ,   usa   (01.14.15)
burg has lost his marbles... not that he had many before but this is over the top kishkush! not sure if to feel sorry for you burg, pitty, or arrange for a room with no windows for you.......
5. I have a prediction too
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (01.14.15)
In 2 years (not 20) Burg converts to radical Islam and joins ISIS in Syria.
6. Burg exposes full lunacy of Israeli left
Chaim ,   Israel   (01.14.15)
The gibberish of Burg exposes the full lunacy of the Isaeli left. Burg's views are the core cowardly, defeatist insanity underlying Oslo, Disengagement and countless other leftist disasters.
7. The Left afflictred with Stockholm syndrome
Yardena   (01.14.15)
8. "It's no longer my circus"
ASTRONAUT ,   SC, USA   (01.14.15)
Yet you, Burg, are still Top Clown.
9. The kid's mixed up.
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (01.14.15)
Always was.
10. or both "fundamentalist" and Arab confederation
Aaron Kuperman ,   Baltimore   (01.14.15)
The hareidim are growing in numbers and are more concerned about religious autonomy than land or running the country, and would have no problem agreeing to be autonomous junior partners in an Islamic led Palestine.
11. The real fear
Ber tram ,   London, UK.   (01.14.15)
To mix metaphors Burg has let the cat out of the bag and exposed the elephant in the room. The real fear for contemporary Zionism is the eradication of fear. A post-Zionist Israel will have come of age when its rightful existence is not grounded in a siege mentality.
12. I am neither Left nor Right
Sagi   (01.14.15)
I am a realist and a pragmatist. The man is 100% correct. Israel is not a democracy, never has been. All radical religious fruitcakes should be on the funny farm, they belong in no other place. Anyone who believes that Israel will be a free democratic country for Jews only is dreaming, or in complete denial of the facts and totally incapable of assessing and analyzing reality. Just in case anyone thinks otherwise, I am Israeli born fifth generation of plowers, sowers and reapers of the land, so please do not throw empty and stupid rhetoric at me. I love my country and my people, but we missed the boat a long time ago. Fact and not fiction will win the day, whether Right or Left are in power. If the theocratists get their way it will be a catastrophe, if a deal is worked out and a Confederation is the outcome, it will be viable and it will be the only sensible solution that both sides will be able to live with. The alternative is destruction, death and another 100 years of war.
13. Burg - you say Israel has no democracy
Tova ,   Canada   (01.14.15)
Well here is news - No country has democracy - Israel is not about Democracy - its much more higher than that. - It a place that lets people like you and all others Jews - speak without getting their house blown-up.
14. Big man
Gita ,   Haemek   (01.14.15)
"I don't consult. I'm at a stage at which people consult with me." Well well 'big man', don't be too sure.
15. Zionism is an empty word.
Michael ,   California, USA   (01.14.15)
Israel is bending to demands by religious fanatics. Zionism was established to give a "national home to the Jews." Religious fanatics don't belong in my home, so I cannot be a Zionist in Israel as long as religion is imposed upon me. Get them out of my backyard and then we'll talk about a purpose served by Zionism.
16. the ultra-Orthodox still have the faith.
Zion   (01.14.15)
There's something to be said for being learned of the Jewish Scriptures and then seeing Jewish and even Israel ( I thank God to see Israel in my lifetime and know that the opportunity exists ). The ultra-Orthodox are the most representative of the Jewish Scripture in their looks and in their ways. Their only drawback is the yeshiva program and the military or civil service issues. The ultra-Orthodox appear to be in to Psalm 1, finding Psalm 2 and recognizing to Psalm 87 to Isaiah 2 and reaching Psalm 94 will be major accomplishments. The ultra-Orthodox will be Israel's saving grace. The Messiah would go to those who have actually managed to live the Word.
17. Want to make G-d smile?
tiki ,   belgium   (01.14.15)
Predict the future! The problem with this nutter is that he doesn't have an identity. He doesn't have a clue who he is or what he stands for. That's why every few years he comes with another plan about who he is and what his believes are. Problem is that nobody cares.
18. Either a Palestinian Confederaration with Hashemite Jordan
Zechariah   (01.14.15)
Either there ought be a Palestinian Arab Confederation with a Hashemite Jordan or there is the danger of an Islamic and Neonazi Confrontation with Israel Jews World Wide have to Prepare .From Mansions to Underground Cities from Luxury Mercedes Benz to Tanks with Impenetrable anti missile Shields .From the small arms of the Warsaw Ghetto to the antiBallistic Missile Shield and the Horrific Preemptive Deterrance and Second Strike Capacity.
19. who cares?
(01.14.15)
Current French citizen, former Israeli citizen says he supports communists. Who cares?
20. this guy is nuts!
nadav ,   tlv   (01.14.15)
BUT it shows the dangers of voting for the loony left, which is morally and ideologically bankrupt, not to mention increasingly radical! As for Burg, remember that he was once the darling of the American and Israeli Left; his true colors are showing, which is why he will NEVER be elected for anything again!
21. Sorry Burg, it's Communism that is over.
Jake   (01.14.15)
It imploded and was discarded into the dumpster of failed 20th century ideologies. As for Zionism, it is alive and kicking and will go on.
22. Burg "is an atheist but wears a skullcap"
Jake   (01.14.15)
The mind-boggling hypocrisy of this man knows no limits.
23. To Abdul Karim Salim (FB)
Jake   (01.14.15)
I really have to laugh how in the Arab mind one can talk about "turning tides" and scoring victories when all one has is defeat after defeat. For your information, Avraham Burg is an extreme outlier in Israeli society. Moreover, he is not part of the younger generation. Just have a look at the posts on these forums and the results of polls in Israel. Do you see any sign that palestinians are "winning the hearts and minds" of Israelis, PARTICULARLY the younger generation?
24. To Michael #15
Jake   (01.14.15)
YOUR home? YOUR backyard? Your home and you backyard is in California. Israel is not you home, and not your backyard, and you have no say on the choices its people make.
25. To Sagi, #12, a "confederation" has already been tried
Jake   (01.14.15)
under the Palestine Mandate. It has been proven to be neither viable nor acceptable. Read the 1937 British Palestine Report. Neither the Arabs nor the Jews wanted anything to do with a common Palestinian identity. During the Mandate, the Arabs refused to accept a significant Jewish presence or immigration, and Jews refused to accept anything less than Jewish statehood. And until Jews formed their own military organization, Jewish blood flowed in rivers. Even before the foundation of the State of Israel, there was a bloody civil war in Palestine, 1947-48, initiated by Arabs, designed not only to prevent partition but to push the Jews into the sea.
26. #15, it is ironic that the clueless one comments about empty
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (01.14.15)
27. #24 J, As Burg says, write a constitution and define "home".
Michael ,   California, USA   (01.15.15)
Yes, Israel is my home, by my definition, no matter where in the world I am. Israel never defined itself as Avrum also says. The way I see it, Israel is a ship waiting for some direction, waiting for some logic that will convince people where they should sail.
28. BURG
debby fyaga ,   New Ork   (01.15.15)
Burg is a sellout Jew, I would not be surprised if he has a nice cushie home in the Alps
