It is likely that a great many Democrat and, maybe even a number of Republican Senators and Congressmen and women, will absent themselves from this joint session; not in disrespect for Bibi, but out of respect for the Presidency (the office; not the man in it)

nobody is attacking president booboo. but by some magical coincidence, almost all the senators and congressmen speaking out against netanyahu's speech, just happen to be democrats. which makes me wonder whether they are circling the wagons against netanyahu, or against the voters that just have them a good and proper shellacking. and it wouldn't surprise me if all those "good democrats" weren't asked to step forward and speak out, by that very same white house, which for the last 6 years has excelled at nothing so much as manipulation of the media.

I wish all the right wing posters who lambast Obama and American Jews who support him would listen to talk radio and television in America and read some of the thousands of comments posted on news media sites all across America, including left wing and right wing sites and shows. The overwhelming majority of them are lambasting Netanyahu and what the Israeli right wing does not seem to understand is that the dislike of Netanyahu extends to a growing dislike for Israel....not just in Europe but in America. Your prime minister is doing more harm to your country than you realize. Blame it on Obama and the left all you want but the truth is that the biggest threat to Israel is not Iran but instead is your saber rattling, war mongering Prime Minister.

1) Iran is not going to stop its nuclear ambitions because it is based on a messiah complex of taking over the world in order for the 12 th imam to reappear. That requires the whole world to become muslim or else. What better way than nuclear coercion. Nentanyahu speaking will not cause the Iranians to rethink their nuclear negotiations. 2) Obama prided himself under the chicken #@ incident that he prevented Nentanyahu from acting against Iran. So once again the author's premise that Obama is upset and therefore will not solidfy a good deal because of Nentanyahu misses the point that Obama doesn't care for a good deal in the first place. That is why Netanyahu is going!

Netanyahu's self-centered political gimmicks will manage to... bitterly anger the White House, alienate a large portion of the Amer public previously sympathetic to Israel - and, as you point out, accelerate Iran's march to nuclear status... Not bad for a day's work. And such a small price to pay for a few extra votes to stay in power.

In the off chance that this comment might be published: It might be beneficial to read the United States Constitution before mouthing off about what is or is not diplomatically appropriate. Under the U.S. Constitution, the power to declare war is reserved to Congress and not to the President. Likewise, the framers reserved to Congress the right to grant letters of marque and reprisal to authorize military force against offending persons in the event that the President chose a more passive course of action. For Congress to make an informed decision, it necessarily must have the ability to obtain expert information. The invitation to the Prime Minister is fully consistent with the Constitution and appropriate. The suggestion that the Prime Minister's attendance might cause a backlash and raise the specter of un-due Jewish influence is reminiscent of those who stood silent during between 1933 - 1945, lest the Jews be blamed for getting the U.S. involved in WWII. Nonsense.

Brant, the Presidency has never been sacrosanct in the United States. In fact, in the Constitution of the United States, the office of president is always written with a lower-case "p". It was meant, literally, to be a temp job, not an emperorship or dictatorship which is what the Manchurian Candidate for the Mullahs and the Muslim Brotherhood in the White House has been trying to convert it into. Very few will absent themselves and Netanyahu can expect an enthusiastic audience just like every time before.

Well, that's Bennett, the epitome of the "ugly Israeli": tactless, bullish, arrogant and rude. I don't always agree with Barnea but heck, he has Bennett right down to the cross on the double 't'. The narrow minded and narrowly focused fundamentalists - so blind they can't see wood for trees - select Bennett because he fits in with their warped and bigoted views, not because he has shown any talent whatsoever for leadership. It takes more than a successful business to head a country of diverse peoples with diverse tastes and interests. Of Netanyahu, there's nothing more to be said. One gets the government one deserves and if his culture of corruption and egomania-driven double dealing is what they continually vote for, they must live with the consequences.

The only problem with this article is that it does not match reality. Since his election 7 years ago, Obama has overturned previous US foreign policy. He rejected stable secular dictatorships in Libya, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria and instead pushed for popular Islamist regimes because he honestly believes these are better. Consistent with this belief, Obama supported Islamists against the Green Revolution, thwarted Israeli military action against Iran, ensured Iran could continue developing nukes and recently announced he would veto any renewed sanctions on Iran. The fact is that Netanyahu had no choice. If he did not go to Congress, there would be no sanctions. This article unfairly attacks Netanyahu for doing his best, instead of addressing the real issue: what will Israel do when surrounded by Iranian allies in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and Sinai (and possibly Egypt/Jordan) all acting under an Iranian nuclear umbrella?

i congratulate you for pointing out that the us congress is a co-equal branch of the government and that in cartain areas their powers are larger than those of the president. in particular, the senate has the duty and the right to advise and to retify treaties negotiated by the executive. rumour has it that obama will not name his deal with iran a "treaty" but something else. congress should not fal for this trickery and make it clear that any so-called deal with iran is in fact a treaty.

What a surprise! So Sen. Menendez and many other Dem senators have backed down and will not re-introduce legislation for more sanctions until after March 24 and ONLY if there's no deal. Their alignment with their President (much as many of you and I have disdain for that president) is still stronger than their support for Netanyahu. Now they can all attend his speech but it won't change a thing,

Netanyahu sees, as anyone who's not politically skewed does, that Obama and Kerry are out of their league naively trying to negotiate with the descendants of generations of Persian rug traders, and are getting totally flummoxed by the Iranian "negotiators." Obama's naivete and lack of negotiating skills will almost guarantee Iran's achieving a nuclear weapon sooner than later. Bibi sees the existential threat to his own country and is desperately trying to do something about it, by attempting to toughen up the Americans' stance any way he possibly can. About the only way he can get across is to try to show Congress that it's not just Israel but American interests all over the world that are at stake.

For someone who lives in the United States to tell me that my Prime Minister is an embarassment is insanity. The Prime Minister's job is not be liked ,his job is protect. And as an Israeli citizen I am proud of him. Furthermore, Congress the legislative Branch of your Government invited him. So you are saying it is okay to embarass your Speaker of the House? Just because your upset with Obama for not protecting your Southern Border. Don't project your feelings on my Prime Minister who actually trying to protect his country.
