1. It was stupid attack in Syria
Josh   (01.28.15)
Bibi made a huge mistake by attacking Hizbollah and Syrian troops in Syria. This show a collusion between Bibi and Islamic terror to please Arab monarchs. as result of this idiotic mistake Jewish soldiers are killed.
2. wishing a full recovery to the Injured IDF troops
avramele   (01.28.15)
... and rhis thoughtful complex analysis is one more reason that military/political policy cannot be made in a room dominated by the insecure Yaalon, the desperate Bibi, the corrupt Liberman and the "Je Suis Le Christ hamashiach" clown Bennett.
3. Israel must wipe Hezbollah off the map.
Dave   (01.28.15)
That's the ONLY language they understand.
4. Hezballah-Iran saving face .

They couldn't have left the killing of those top commanders of theirs unanswered. They made some show. Maybe they know that pushing for a bloodier confrontation could bring the end of the shia/alawi's hold over Lebanon/Syria. Because the weaker link in the chain is Assad's regime. Once the few remnants of what still stands of his army-militia is swept away (IDF?), Syria will fall in the hands of the sunnis militias and with it the alawi's northern area. Syrian army-militia cannot even defend their own airfields, not even move airplanes from one place to another when ISIS or Al Nusra are approaching. Retribution in Lebanon will follow suit in a blood bath where all the other communities Christians, Sunnis, and Druse will seek revenge for the decades of shia-alawi bloody reign and will fall on south Beyrout, Beeka and southern Lebanon. With the typical middle eastern abbandon shown in these occasions. So, if on one side we are on the receiving end of some tens (hundreds?) of thousands of rockets and the damages will be humungous, it is their wery life and the survival of the whole shia community which is on the line. Tough choice. Maybe some alien spaceship will abduct all of them ... it would be nice
5. Are You Out Of Your Mind ?
DSM ,   USA   (01.28.15)
Yishai, are you nuts or just another leftist? What is to weigh? The response should be one of overwhelming force. That means killing terrorists and the civilians that support them. That is what war is about...killing. Not shooting a rocket into an empty building as most Israeli politicians are want to do. Israel must not get stuck in a war of attrition.
6. @#5 - DSM - You Do Know That Targeting
Doug ,   Rochester, USA   (01.29.15)
civilians is a war crime, don't you? And you do know that Israel started the latest hostilities by their targeted assassination and that Lebanon was only responding to Israel's latest attack, don't you?

It's not nice to say negative things about other's comments so I won't say you don't know the difference between targeting civilians and actually going out of your way not to kill any. Oops, I just said it. Unfortunately winning a war is about killing not about worrying did I commit a war crime. By the way are you concerned that the Islamist terrorist are targeting civilians? I think not so much.
8. Josh, #!, what Syrian soldiers?
Jake   (02.04.15)
You do know that the targets were Hizbullah and Iranian Revolutonary Guards, don't you? And what were doing on the Syrian border with Israel, establishing a terror base?
9. Doug #6, what "response" from Lebanon?
Jake   (02.04.15)
The targeted assassination of Hizbullah terrorists and Iranian troops definitely occurred in Syria, not in Lebanon. And so the question begs itself. What were they doing in Syria, at the border with Israel?
