ASTRONAUT ,   SC, USA   (04.22.15)
Academics – G-d bless their pointed little keppies – always seek to be "cool" rather than "sincere" – hence, their dismal choice of anachronistic Robert Zimmerman [B.Dylan] instead of a more poignant, meaningful choice: Hatikvah. Am Yisrael Chai.
2. don't be silly
Larry ,   LA (formerly)   (04.22.15)
Dylan's lyrics were about the people who supposedly profited from war as if the arms industry created wars to make millions of dollars from. Nothing to do with our young Jewish heroes who gave their lives so that we could live and enjoy our life in the land of Israel.
3. The meaning of the song
Moshe ,   Israel   (04.22.15)
A song which could be interpreted as most of the students there understood it, even if this was not the intention of the author, should not have been quoted on the holy Memorial Day.
4. To quote another Dylan song
Giora Me'ir ,   USA   (04.22.15)
Don't criticize what you can't understand.
5. It's NOT THE DYLAN SONG but the moron who misused it.
Better Jewthanyu ,   NYCNYUSA   (04.22.15)
Take a brilliant poet, with a brilliant poem that will last for as long as humans fight, then take a stupid myopic ignoranus and take the words out of context and apply it like a wet blanket to a sensitive subject and what do you have . A stupid small minded Jew pretending to be an intellectual speaker.. shame on you, idiot!.
6. Indecent
Michael Durbin ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (04.22.15)
Having the ability, or even the right to do something, has nothing to do with whether or not to exercise that right. That decision is a matter of respect. This action was indecent in its literal meaning, and no other meaning can be taken from it. It can only be carried out by people with no respect for others or, indeed, for themselves.
7. Dylan Song
marvls ,   nyc   (04.22.15)
How dumb of the organizers. Whatever the original intent of the lyrics, they should have been sensitive to how it might be heard/understood (or even misunderstood) by others on a day such as this. I'll be they could have found something more inspiring from Tanach to read instead...
8. Bob Dylan has always been an idiot and not talented musician

Barney ,   usa   (04.22.15)
dylans song masters of war was about the military industrial profiteers that sent young men to their death for money. Not about Israel. Dylan is pro Israel just read the lyrics to neighborhood bully. The lyrics in this case at this event were used out of context and I could see how they would offend. Dylan defends Israel's right to live in neighborhood bully. Google the lyrics.

it's not about dylan - he wasn't at the ceremony. it's about the lyrics that were read at the ceremony. and it's about the insensitivity of reading those words at a memorial for fallen soldiers, and the stupidity of the administrator who thought it was okay to "stir debate".
11. Dylan song interpretation refers to Nazis mainly
Zechariah   (04.22.15)
Dylan refers to Nazis mainly but also Kheumer Rouge and Tribal Genocides . The student union leader referred to Wars manufactured or prolonged for Profit .Its a idealistic song but does not apply to many Zionists who wanted a secure Jewish Homeland in the Empty Spaces of Palestine -Sand Dunes Swamps -the Negev -the Empty Parts of the North . Mistakes even criminal were made but there are now Ten million plus Palestinian originated Arabs from one million in 1945 . Some live in harsh circumstances but in Dubai they build Skyscrappers and New Land from sand they ought offer the Arabs who fled mandatory Palestine Jobs there like the east Prussians intergrated into the New Democratic Germany -Twelve Million and the Islam who left India for Pakistan -Millions .

So Israel is just supposed to ignore tens of thousands of missile barrages and mortar barrages? I don't think so, chica. The pseudo-"palestinians" could have had a state in 1947; they chose to go to war instead. They lost. They started -- and LOST-- five additional major wars, and countless smaller ones. They have engaged in brutal acts of violence and terror and indiscriminately killed thousands of innocent Jews. Statehood for the pseudo-"palestinians" is no longer an option; at least not on Jewish soil. That includes Judea and Samaria, which will ultimately be annexed in any event. They can build a state in Gaza -- at least once the rival pseudo-"palestinian" factions stop killing one another -- but that is all they can have. If they continue to behave badly, they'll lose Gaza, too. Funny that you should have such compassion for vile terrorists. On September 11, 2001, while thousands of Jews in Israel queued for hours just to donate blood and plasma, the pseudo-"palestinians" were celebrating. Do keep that in what passes for your "mind."

Buffy St. Marie's song "universal soldier" would have been a better choice.

I completely agree and that is what I said in my post . These lyrics are ok for the wars for which they were meant . Dylan did not write these in reference to Israel. The individuals who used these at this ceremony were way out of bounds and their intent was dubious at best. They used valid lyrics in an invalid context.

keep your mouth shut and people may think you are an idiot. Open your mouth and remove all doubt. One of the most prolific song writers , poets, and thinker of this decade and you don't get it. Feel very sorry for you

The real deal   (04.23.15)
real facts and not the fabricated ones? For the time being, the pseudo-Palestinians have total superiority on initiating wars, intifadas, terror attacks on innocent people ( Jews and Arabs), brutal killings including Jewish babies and toddlers. Your remote anger is nothing but two things strongly embedded in you: hatred for whatever Israel has achieved these last 67 years of renewed existence and a fierce anti-Semitic feeling handed down to you by your parents. Believe me that this time Israel is for keeps, in spite of the likes of you. Pseudo-palis should better rid themselves of their raw and blind hatred or else they will never reach the table of negotiations.

Israeli elite mafias who control israel, also control israelis' minds, by creating and screwing up facts to their interests.

22. They Don't Understand the Lyrics
Joe Tan ,   Wilmington USA   (04.24.15)
These are college students?? They don't understand that this song is not about killing soldiers from any country, much less Israel. Dylan was excoriating the emerging military industrial complex in US and USSR during the cold war and the people he was referring to that he hoped would die were the politicians and war profiteers that sent our IDF heroes to war in the first place. It is an anti war song and was written to try and avoid any further killing of soldiers from any country. Can't believe these college students are too dense or thick to understand the intent of the lyrics.
