1. just make it free on shabbat
nadav ,   tlv   (05.13.15)
Make the zoo open on shabbat for free, that way no money needs to be exchanged. the zookeepers work on shabbat anyway- someone needs to feed and take care of the animals, right?
2. Funny- who will feed those animals on shabbat?
kuhlblitz ,   United States   (05.13.15)
Usually people say the arabs likes to live in 7th century..... But what we see is this Rabbis wants to live in 2nd Century when there was no concept of Zoo!!!!
3. Maybe a study-trip to Tehran could further "enhance" the

visions these purveyors of Darkness have for our fine citizenry?! Just a suggestion....Revulsion shall be my epitaph....
4. Say no to religious coercion
Lior   (05.13.15)
I guess work is a foreign concept to the ultra othhadox
5. Freedom of Israeli's religious choice is no BS, mr.heredi
Mighty Jew Young ,   America is beautiful   (05.13.15)
I DO NOT CHOOSE TO "CELEBRATE" SHABBAS...this means I am a treated as a second class citizen in Israel. The tyranny of THE power greedy heredi religious MINORITY forces the 80% MAJORITY of the population to SUFFER THEIR heredi SUPPERSTITIOUS NONSENSE. This is against ISRAELI DEMOCRACY that ISRAEL pretends it has...but oh so limited under the state /church run tyranical myopic rabbinate... I call on the MAJORITY TO OVERTHROW THE TAIL WAGS DOG governing bodies and bring RELIGIOUS FREEDOM AND DEMOCRACY BACK TO Israel and ISRAELIS
6. I hope.....
Toledano Jean-Pierre ,   Israel   (05.13.15)
I remember that years ago, when the religious parties came into the Israeli government, I read a headline in one of our papers: "The or our ayatollahs are in the government". I forgot the name of the paper. After years, when I was back in Israel, and after I saw the growing religious fanatism I remember that headline and I know it was partly correct: Satmar, Beit Shemesh, attacks on Tsahal soldiers or officers,... I hope that we will never be confronted with a Jewish inquisition against others: the seculars or less religious (not Haredim) Jews,...
7. We would save so many tsarot if...
Deborah ,   Jerusalem   (05.13.15)
...each one of us do one little mitsvah at a time. Nobody can deny this! That is the only thing H" wants from us.
8. Close the zoo on Shabbat
Devorah   (05.13.15)
Give the animals a rest from the sights, smells, and sounds of people except for those who have to take care of them. Let the poor creatures have a little Gan Eden as best you can, even if it's just for a day. I'm not saying this because of the rabbis. I'm saying this because my heart breaks for imprisoned animals.
9. Pikuach Nefesh needs to be Vast
Zechariah   (05.13.15)
The Shabbos is too strict for many .At first Jewswere killed in battles because they refused to defend it was megacountersurvival. The Law was changed to include that you may live. There have been innovative adjustments for survival which is good . But theology will not fully protect the Jews . You need an excellent IDF.
10. Now animals too have to respect shabat?

Now animals too have to respect shabat?
11. #8 Thank you for a beautiful post
A ,   Belgium   (05.14.15)
I refuse to visit zoos during the week also, even the immaculate animal prison called the "Antwerp zoo". There is no pleasure in seeing, as you said, imprisoned animals. I say, close ALL zoos .
12. haredi extorionists
Brian ,   South Africa   (05.14.15)
enough of these effing extortionists and their criminal acts. They refuse to be part of a normal society so screw 'em .
13. #11 - Thank you, A
Devorah   (05.15.15)
I agree. How ironic that the animals are imprisoned in a "Biblical" zoo.
14. It means no one will visit the zoo excepted haredim
Avi L.   (05.16.15)
No one will have the free time to visit the zoo during the week excepted haredim, or schools tours. No parents spending times with children, naming the animals like Adam did. Little by little, billion by billion, they will lead the country ruin.
15. Close the Zoo on shabat?
eli ,   israel   (05.15.15)
Haredim are not the only arbiters of the torah. They are a fringe group, part of a sick society that shouldn't have control over anyone but themselves. Don't close anything on shabat and let the buses run. Their interpretation of what is work and what is allowed is the narrowest possible and impossible for a modern world. They wouldn't be here, nor any of us if we had to depend upon them to defend the State of Israel. They are a major drain on the body politic and an embarassment, especially in the way they treat women and their racist interpretations of a sick theology. To h...ll with them.
16. you have to drive to get there
ELISHEVA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.08.15)
the problem remains that the zoo is in a neighborhood by itself and even if its free on shabbat people will have to drive to get there!!I was shocked to learn when I went there that it was open on shabbat!
