Instead of turning Gaza into a booming economic 'Singapore', (as Israel had hoped), the Gazan leadership only cares about confronting Israel and trying to kill Jews. Very sad state of affairs.

One point I would like to make is that during battle there are a number of areas in Gaza which are free from destruction of war. The main issue in the past seems to be that Hamas didn't allow civilians to leave to safe zones.
