1. why give up on the good life then?
Jerome ,   AKL   (08.11.16)
The article is suggesting civil union, no proof of Judaism of one side or neither sides. If there is a risk of your children end up marrying non-Jews, why send them to Israel, deprive them of free uni education, a villa with a parcel of land for the price of 2 rooms in Tel-Aviv, a Porsche for a price of a cheap Japanese in Israel and taxes on almost anything? As a father I thought this is the price to pay for the certitude of assuring that your children marry kosher Jews- not some sort of Jew imposter.......

I Quote -

"Survey says: Israelis think religious laws hurt Judaism
A new poll carried out for wedding season shows that a majority of Israelis support civil marriages and that laws intended to force religious observance actually distance Israeli citizens from the Jewish faith." !.

Comment - Yes HASHEM is separating the Sheeps and the Goats !.

Malachi 421st Century King James Version (KJ21)

4 “For behold, the day cometh that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly shall be stubble. And the day that cometh shall burn them up,” saith the Lord of hosts, “that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
2 But unto you that fear My name shall the Sun of Righteousness arise with healing in His wings; and ye shall go forth and grow up as calves from the stall.
3 And ye shall tread down the wicked, for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this,” saith the Lord of hosts.
4 “Remember ye the Law of Moses, My servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.
5 “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.
6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the land with a curse.”

May HASHEM bless the Faithfull !.

If they had their way, we'd be living an Iran-like existence. Just the fact that comments about gay parades and the like have to surface, every time the subject of religion comes up - makes it hateful and unbearable. I'm as much a Jew as I want to be, and no-one should tell me how to live my life. So get over it!
4. Relgious Laws hurt Judaism
Yored - LA ,   Los Angeles, USA   (08.11.16)
I guess the the comparision is that red lights prevent ambulance drivers, emergency rooms and personal injury lawyers from making a decent living. This poll is absurd. it is truly amazing that the pollster went out of their way to find the most ignorant people to participate rather than taking this poll in Jerusalem or the yishuvim.. where the people live and breathe deeply religious laws and Judaism..

The only answer for the unreasonable hold the ultra-orthodox rabbinate exerts over our lives in Israel, is a separation of church and state. Religion should be a private matter and not the business of the ultra-Orthodox rabbinate. Until that happens, nothing will change and Israelis will continue to view Judaism as a negative factor in their lives.

You clearly have no understanding of the concept of a random poll. Your idea of polling "where the people live and breathe deeply religious laws and (your definition of) Judaism" is like taking a poll on the upcoming US election only at Trump campaign headquarters, where people live and breathe deeply anger at 'the system' and Populist values.
