A terrorist is wounded after killing a policeman. (Sounds like the Boston Marathon terror attack). The terrorist is sent to hospital, at taxpayer expense, to be healed. The terrorist, once released from the hospital, now gets a defense lawyer, again at taxpayer expense, to begin the long ordeal of preparation for trial; all the while being incarcerated - at taxpayer expense.
Eventually the multi-month (if not year) trial ends and the terrorist is convicted of murder and sentenced to death. The death penalty automatically starts a new round of examination and possibly a new trial to make sure no mistake was made in the conviction.
All this may take a few years- all at taxpayer expense.
Eventually, just possibly, within 10 years the terrorist is actually put to death. The total cost of this fiasco will be over 3 or 4 million dollars, possibly much more. What was gained by healing the terrorist so that he could be tried and put to death? To show that the laws of the land are obeyed?
A cop killer, not to mention a terrorist who blew up dozens of kids and adults, deserves the death penalty- and he/she should expect to die immediately as the result of a terror attack.
In the future, to prevent this from ever happening again, when a terrorist is wounded while committing an attack, let him/her bleed out. There is no need to heal, house, and feed a killer for years or for decades. Let them die where they fall. Very simple.
