even though we've stopped obeying the penalties for false sacrifices, false prophecy, necromancy, blasphemy, breaking the Sabbath, adultery, prostitution, etc. If we can CHOOSE to ignore the Torah on these counts, I think we can safely choose to ignore the one on homosexuality as well. The rabbi should step into the 21st century.

1. what's wrong with changing and hopefully improving one's social status by serving in IDF, whichever branch needs you? men do it all the time. it's highly desireable social morality.

2. what's wrong with living in north tel aviv? men do it all the time.

3. what's wrong with serving in combat units? men of all varieties have done it for centuries, and so have some women.

4. as for perverts, soteh min, et al: let's see... rapists, wife beaters, pimps, child molesters, sexual harrassers, et al... including rabbis, IDF officers, professors, businessmen, for starters. most of them NOT gay at all. so maybe start teaching self-restraint, decency, respect for those less powerful, etc. derech eretz.

5. put this guy into teaching morality to haredi young men attacking haredi IDF volunteers, police, avoiding work, income tax, and torah study. that should keep him busy enough for a few lifetimes.
