From this statement, " “I believe that technology is crucial to responding to the challenge due to the pivotal role of the digital scene,” Erez Binyamin said.", we could be concerned that we have a burden with the name of technology expertise at our feet in a time of trouble. Technology is one of many, many ways people who love the Torah, God's words, speak up and tell the truth in a situation to keep people from being killed for a lie or for being killed at all.
One thing I noticed, I will reference an English speaking Bible teacher, is that English speaking peoples often misread or 'misinterpret' Hebrew words of the Bible. The word biyn is used in Psalm 119:27 in a way that is meaning, 'God, teach me the distinguishing between 'this' and 'that' that You have of doing, the action or method of doing of this distinguishing between 'this' thing and 'that' thing, that one has to do all day, every day.' In English some people use the word "divide", which is referenced in Genesis 1:6 but is used by English speakers to describe both the word 'biyn' in Psalm 119:27, and other references of the word divide seen in Genesis 1:6. This English bible teacher I referenced earlier could often be heard to say [so we can]' rightly divide the word of truth, to have understanding.' That is not what or how we as followers of God's word do these thing, we do not divide anything. We see a situation, we see what is the truth that is going on, and we 'separate out' in our minds the true things, the true things that are dangerous to people and the lies. This is biyn: we need to understand that being able to 'distinguish' between truth and 'lie', 'harm' and 'unthreatening' is an incredibly valuable skill, and I think most Israelis actively involved in keeping Israelis and Jews safe work tirelessly in distinguishing these things so they can have the time to discuss with those also working to protect Israelis the options available to them to put up protective measures. We needed to see that at, before, during the Holocaust but the conversations between people who work to protect those who cling to God's laws were not happening freely, openly, or effectively enough. Evil, hateful attacks can come at a people from any group of other people at any time- this is what we work on working against. It is not just Jews that are hated and targeted with death actions, it is any people that is in a group, that can be targeted. Seeing that it is as easy as a small group of people standing in a place getting angry, and then a very evil subject stands in the cement curb right next to these people, and these people rise up to hatred and assault, and assault someone in a group of 'hated' people, is a task that is very important, because many of these events are happening daily, everywhere on the earth. Being able to discern what is really bad, what is really dangerous and how to address it to protect people- that is biyn.
