3. Brilliantly good idea.Pity not through Syria to Turkey
Alan ,   SA   (04.05.17)
What was name of company that did road links from Haifa to Iraq.in 20s and 30s
Should also have branch to Egypt
What a pity Arab States are letting Pallys call all the shots
4. A good idea, but keep "Palestine" out of it
Chaim ,   Israel   (04.05.17)
Strengthening and deepening Israel's ties with neighboring Arab states is always a good idea. But keep fictional "Palestine" out of it. Israel's relationships with Arab states must be built on the understanding that "Palestine" is forever fictional. Ultimately, the Arab World has much to gain by better ties with Israel and nothing to gain from paying lip service to "Palestine".
5. Lets be clear. This is NOT an original Israeli plan
Tim ,   Brighton   (04.05.17)
The plan has been ‘borrowed’ variously from Egyptian, Saudi and Palestinian visions for a High Speed Trans Saudi Peninsula Passenger and Freight Railway network from Saudi Arabia, through Jordan, Israel, PEG (Palestine in an expanded Gaza), Egyptian Sinai to Cairo and beyond. With branch lines linking the Gulf States and the Yemen

Creating connectivity of business enterprise, labour, capital, tourism in on the hand one of the most neglected areas of the world yet on the other an area that offers some of the greatest opportunities of the 21st century for opening up and development

A region so rich in skills, enterprise, capital resources

Even the most modest forecasts show such a rail network could add up to 2.5% additional growth to the Egyptian and Jordanian economies for at least 20 years, the creation of a Palestinian economic miracle in PEG, up to 2% additional growth and increased economic diversification in the Saudi economy and up to an additional 1.5% to the Israeli economy

In the words of the song
So what are we waiting for?
6. Of similar benefit would be pipelines to the Med
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (04.05.17)
Back in Mandate times, the British built an oil pipeline running from Iraq to Haifa. And in the late 1960s, Israel built a pipeline to carry Iranian oil from Eilat to Ashdod.

These two ideas could be easily revived, allowing oil bound for the West to avoid not only the Persian Gulf and Red Sea chokepoints, but the Suez Canal. Run one set of pipelines from the Gulf Arab states to Aqaba, then link to the Eilat-Ashdod pipeline. Run a second from northern (Kurdish) Iraq, through Jordan, and on to Haifa.
7. wtf does anyone want at "the port of haifa"...?
epo   (04.05.17)
katz said: "It would also allow Palestinians access not only to the Port of Haifa but also to Arab countries, which will in turn be connected to the Mediterranean Sea by land."

this train has to connect jerusalem with the rest of the world...

has this something to do with oil?
