It is not question of price ratio: interceptor / UAV , it is interceptor / damage ratio that counts

Why waste a missile on such slow-moving aircraft? A high-energy laser could do the same thing for a much lower cost. Heck, even a Raytheon Phalanx could take down the drone the old fashioned way- shoot it down with a hail of lead. Israel has the brains and weapons selection to remove threats cost-effectively. It's nice to show off, but you don't kill a fly with a hammer. I'm sure Israel could build a drone that could shoot a net over the enemy's drone and force it down to be analyzed. Now that would be newsworthy.

A few years ago Israel was working on a laser-based interception to deal with smaller and shorter range projectiles like mortars, and presumably UAVs. And while more sophisticated UAVs can cost millions, others are dirt cheap. It hardly makes sense to use an interceptor costing close to a million dollars to target one of the latter.

Apropos, a few weeks ago it was reported that Poland, which is procuring the Patriot system, wants the system reconfigured to use the interceptor used in the David's Sling system. Reason? The DS interceptor is much less expensive.
