Chabad

The Chabad-Lubavich movement is a branch of Hasidism that was born some 250 years ago in Russia and spread to surrounding countries.

The movement is guided by the teachings of its seven leaders. Today, the most famous of them is the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson (1902-1994) who some believe to have been the Jewish messiah.

Chabad-Lubavitch has institutions all over the world to welcome Jews. It is common for Jews and Israelis traveling in such far places as India, Nepal or Thailand to celebrate Jewish holidays with local Chabad chapters.

Jewish spiritualism is a strong component of the Chabad-Lubavich movement and followers often dance to express the joy they feel toward God.
