Preparing for siege

Northern West Bank residents stocking up on food, say Sharon most immoral leader in Israel’s history
By Efrat Weiss

SA-NUR – Residents at the northern West Bank settlement of Sa-Nur, slated for evacuation during the upcoming disengagement, are preparing for a siege.

The residents have already started stocking up food and have set up outdoor bathrooms and showers.

Meanwhile, families are continuing to flock to the community, which currently houses 70 of them, compared to the 38 that lived there up until recently. Residents have also set up tents to accommodate Israelis expected to come to the settlement in a show of support.

‘Sharon immoral, undemocratic’

Local residents say that while they do not expect the army to block food from reaching Sa-Nur, one must be prepared for everything with Sharon at the helm.

“We don’t think the IDF would consider the option of blocking food and water from reaching Jews,” local resident Yossi Dagan says. “On the other hand, we are familiar with Sharon’s conduct, and we are concerned he could resort to starvation attempts and cut off the water supply.”

“To our regret, we are facing the most immoral, undemocratic, most aggressive prime minister we ever had,” he said.

However, despite Sharon’s plans, Sa-Nur residents have seen a surge in support for their cause, Dagan says.

“In recent months we’re feeling a huge wave of love and support,” he says. “In the past year about 60,000 visitors came to Sa-Nur to support us, and we clearly see that the people of Israel are with us, and not with the Sharon family.”
