Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s condition continues to be serious but stable Friday morning, and despite the fact that the amount of sedative drugs given to the prime minister has been reduced to almost zero, he has yet to awaken from the medically-induced coma he was put in following the massive stroke he suffered and the ensuing operations on his brain.

Hadassah Ein Kerem sources have expressed general concern over Sharon’s state, but remain unfazed by the fact that he has yet to open his eyes.

“Some patients wake up after a week, and some wake up after several months,” one doctor said.

No signs of eyelid movements

Following a neurological assessment of Sharon’s condition, doctors decided that no further or alternative treatment is necessary at this stage, as the prime minister’s condition has not changed.

However, Sharon’s relatives, friends and doctors remain concerned despite Thursday’s improvement in the prime minister’s condition.

The hospital denied reports claiming Sharon has moved his eyelids.

“He is still moving the same limbs, but there were no signs of eyelid movements,” a hospital source said.

On Thursday Sharon underwent yet another CT scan, which Hadassah sources said indicated further improvement in his condition.

It was also reported that the prime minister’s heart rate is normal, as is his body temperature; he is not suffering from any infections, Hadassah sources said.
