Only 10 days after Prime Minister Ariel Sharon had to undergo surgery to remove a part of the large intestine, physicians at the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital discovered that the prime minister suffers from another medical problem.
A routine CT scan Sharon underwent Wednesday evening revealed an accumulation of fluids in his abdomen that were promptly drained. In the framework of the regular examination, Sharon's brain was also scanned.
The PM's condition continues to be serious but stable.
Hospital officials reported that there have been no changes in the prime minister's condition, and that he is still connected to a respirator but not sedated.
Ever since his minor operation about a week and a half ago Sharon has been hospitalized at the hospital's general emergency unit. It is unclear at this point when he will be transferred to another unit or to rehabilitation.
Sharon has been hospitalized in Hadassah for about 50 days. He was admitted to the hospital at the beginning of January after suffering a massive stroke, and has undergone several brain surgeries since.
