Erekat: Abbas wishes to finalize talks with Israel within 6 months

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas is interested in initiating "intensive negotiations" that will last no more than six months immediately following the upcoming Israeli elections, Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said in a meeting with Meretz-Yachad Chairman Yossi Beilin.

According to Erekat, the results of such talks will be submitted to a national referendum that will bind any Palestinian government. (Roee Nahmias)
