US warns of possible Algeria plane attack plot

Militants may be planning to attack commercial aircraft carrying Western workers in Algeria, the US embassy said in a message to Americans living in the oil-exporting North African country.

An embassy warden's message dated March 12 and posted on the Web site of the US government's Overseas Security Advisory Council said: "There is information that extremists may be planning to conduct an attack against a commercial aircraft carrying Western workers in Algeria." (Reuters)
