Rocket fire on Negev area renewed Wednesday morning, as four Qassams land south of Ashkelon and five near Sderot; no injuries or damage reported in attack. Some 20 people wounded in rocket barrages on Sderot Tuesday

Nine Qassams were fired Wednesday from the northern Gaza Strip and landed in open fields south of Ashkelon and near Sderot. One of the rockets landed near a soccer field in one of the kibbutzim in the area.
Schools will remain closed in Sderot and the western Negev communities following the escalation in rocket fire from Gaza.
More than 20 Qassams landed in the Sderot area Tuesday, in one of the most severe attacks on town. One of the rockets directly hit a house, wounding a 45-year-old woman and her son.
The woman sustained serious injuries to the head, but her condition later improved and is now defined as moderate.
Defense Minister Amir Peretz held a security meeting Tuesday to evaluate the situation in the south. It has been decided in the meeting that the IDF's policy in Gaza will not change drastically, but that the military will be permitted to operate on a larger scale in order to minimize the Qassam threat to Israel.
It has also been decided that the Home Front Command should increase aid and support for the residents of Sderot and the area.
