Elbit Systems wins $55m European contract

Company lands defense contracts with Slovenian, Romanian armies. Deals include cooperation with leading European defense contractors

Elbit Systems, which develops and manufactures defense electronic and electro-optic systems, won a $55 million European account Wednesday.

 

The company signed a $40 million deal with the Slovenian army and a $15 million one with the Romanian army, and would provide both with unmanned turrets, remote control weapon systems and electro-optic systems for armored vehicles.

 

Elbit will cooperate with the Finnish Patria AMV and the European aeronautic defense company EADS NV on the Slovenian project.

 

Its part would be to provide and install laser detection systems, 30mm unmanned turrets and 40mm overhead remote weapon systems.

 

The company would provide the Slovenian army with its order by 2011.

 

Elbit's Romanian project would span the next three years and would be in cooperation with the General Dynamics European Combat Systems Group.

 

The company would provide the Romanian army with 12.7mm unmanned turrets and various electronic and electro-optic systems, including thermal viewers.
