Army chief: We're still fighting for independence

Even though 63 years have passed since the Holocaust, the State of Israel is still fighting to be an independent and democratic state, IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi said in a conference of French Jewish leaders.

Ashkenazi recounted his recent trip to Poland, saying that while there he grasped the importance of Israel and of service in the IDF. (Attila Somfalvi)
