Kuwait awards contracts to build oil refinery to Japanese, S. Korean firms

The state-owned Kuwait National Petroleum Co. Says it has awarded contracts worth around $8.3 billion to build an oil refinery to Japanese and South Korean companies.

The company told the official Kuwait News Agency Sunday the main contract to build the 615,000 barrels a day refinery at Mina al-Zour south of Kuwait City went to Japan's JGC and South Korea's GS Engineering and Construction Corp. for $3.99 billion. (AP)
