Sheikh Raed Salah indicted for incitement

The State Prosecution has filed yet another indictment against the head of the Islamic Movement in Israel, Sheikh Raed Salah. This time for inciting a riot.

According to the indictment, filed with the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, Salah, along with several others, incited crowds during an illegal protest rally held in Jerusalem on March of 2007, against the archeological digs held near Temple Mount.

Encouraged by Salah, the crowds reportedly waved PLO and Syrian flags and blocked several roads in the area.

Salah was called in for questioning on the matter several weeks ago, by the Jerusalem Police, but failed to show, saying he had credible information indicating right-wing extremist were planning to assassinate him when he entered the city.

Islamic Movement Spokesman, attorney Zahy Nujeidat, said as the time that "the information we received indicated that some elements were interested in carrying out the religious decree published after the attack on Mercaz Harav Yeshiva."
