Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' aide said his meetings with the Syrian president have focused on Mideast peace talks and efforts to reconcile rival factions.

However, Nabil Abu Rdeneh would not say whether Abbas would meet with the exiled leader of Hamas during his visit to Syria. Hamas is the main rival to Abbas' Fatah party. (AP)
