2 East Jerusalem residents accused of planning terror attack

Jerusalem District Prosecution files terror affiliation, conspiracy charges against two 18-year-olds from Issawiya; both accused of trying to buy firearms for future attack on Israelis

The Jerusalem District Prosecutor's Office on Sunday indicted two residents of the East Jerusalem village of Issawiya on charges of terror affiliation and conspiracy to commit a crime.

According to the charges filed with the Jerusalem District Court, Ahmed Abu Ramila, 18, and Majd Darwish, 18, as well as several other youths from their village conspired to form a Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) terror cell.

As part of the cell's operation, the two sprayed slogans supporting the PFLP in their village, took part in several of the organization's rallies, and contacted a third party in order to buy firearms meant to be used in a future attack on Israelis.

The prosecution argued that the two collected about NIS 1,500 ($380) for the sake of the purchase, but were arrested before carrying out the attack.

The State also accused Abu Ramila of stoning several civilian and military vehicles driving on the Ma'aleh Adumim road, east of Jerusalem, and hurling two Molotov cocktails at the Ma'aleh Adumim gas stations in an attempt to set it on fire.
