Workers at Ben-Gurion Airport have returned to regular operations Sunday evening after heeding the call of Histadrut Chairman Ofer Eini and Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz to end their strike, the airport's workers union said.

Negotiations between the employees and the Airports Authority will resume on Monday afternoon and will be attended by the director-general of the Transportation Ministry.

Earlier the Israel Airports Authority (IAA) filed for an injunction against the Ben Gurion International Airport Workers' Union's strike.

The IAA claimed the strike was illegal and that it was detrimental to the airport's operations. During the strike 46 flights scheduled to take off have been delayed.

The Workers' Union unexpectedly announced a full blown strike Sunday afternoon, in light of its ongoing wage dispute with the IAA. All Airport personnel left all work stations abruptly.

Sources in the IAA said that the negotiations with the union failed because it exacerbated its wage demands.
