Qassam lands in Sderot; resident lightly injured

VIDEO - A Qassam rocket fired from northern Gaza Sunday evening apparently landed in the yard of a home in Sderot. Magen David Adom emergency services reported that one resident sustained light shrapnel injuries to his head and arms, while two others suffered from shock.

At around 17:10 the Color Red alert system sounded in Sderot and in other Israeli towns surrounding the Hamas-controlled enclave, sending locals fleeing for secure areas.

Tzvia Turjeman, the owner of the house which was hit, recalled hearing abuot the incident: "I got a message that a Qassam hit out house. I was in a complete state of panic, and I called my daughters, who fortunately were not at home at the time.

"The only one home was my husband and luckily, he's fine. It's a miracle. I can't stop shaking. We're just building our fortified room now. This is a horrible situation. We were just getting back on our feet, and now it's starting all over again," she said.

Earlier Sunday, the Air Force attacked a rocket-launching cell in Gaza City after to Qassams hit the Eshkol Regional Council area. The Palestinians said four gunmen were killed and six others were injured in the strike.

Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz said Sunday that Israel must "stop talking and launch a personal targeted killing policy, against the Hamas government" in light of the renewed rocket attacks on Gaza vicinity communities and the city of Ashkelon.

"We must form a plan and bring it to the cabinet's approval immediately," he said.
