Festival salutes Chinese, Jewish cultures
Egg Rolls & Egg Creams Festival in New York features klezmer march and music, Chinese opera and acrobatics, vaudeville performances, Yiddish and Chinese language lessons, mahjong, and synagogue tours
It’s no secret the Jews have a strong attachment to Chinese food, which is why we found the idea of this annual festival hilarious:
The Egg Rolls & Egg Creams Festival, which was held Sunday by the Museum at Eldridge Street in New York, celebrated the Chinese and Jewish communities right where Chinatown meets the old Jewish Lower East Side.
Named the “best block party in New York City” by the Village Voice, the festival featured a klezmer march and music, Chinese opera and acrobatics, vaudeville performances, Yiddish and Chinese language lessons, mahjong, synagogue tours, and much more.
Of course, kosher egg rolls and egg creams were served.
