Fatah, the Palestinian Liberation Organization's largest faction, was established by Yasser Arafat in Kuwait in the late 1950s to promote the founding of a Palestinian state.

During the 1960s, Fatah launched dozens of raids against Israeli targets from Jordan, Lebanon, and Egyptian-controlled Gaza. During the 1970s, the group carried out numerous terror attacks against various civilian targets, mainly in Western Europe and Israel.

Fatah, which means, “conquest by means of Jihad,” is the reverse acronym of Palestinian Liberation Movement. The faction maintains several armed groups, such as Tanzim and al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, which have been linked to numerous attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF forces.
