Rice Takes Abbas to Task
U.S. Secretary of State calls on Palestinian leader to disarm terror groups, vows to personally oversee negotiations.
WASHINGTON – Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas must take steps to disarm Palestinian terror groups, American Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says.
Rice, who spoke before the Senate's Foreign Affairs Sub-Committee today, said there will be no peace without an end to terror.
"The Palestinians cannot continue using violence against Israel while calling for a two-state solution," she said.
In addition, Rice said the United States has failed to pay sufficient attention to the emergence of democratic Palestinian institutes.
