TEL AVIV - Irit Rosenblum, chairwoman of the organization “New Family,” marries 400 couples annually in a thoroughly secular context.
In contrast to the groups seeking a blend of tradition and modern secular approaches, Rosenblum does not use Jewish symbols at all, and calls herself a performer of civil unions.

She says participants in her ceremonies generally don’t break a glass, and if a glass is broken, don’t say ‘If I forget Jerusalem.’
“In my opinion it’s embarrassing to combine religious elements in a ceremony for people who chose not to be connected to religion,” she says.
