TEL AVIV - Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz has decided to impose a curfew on the West Bank and Gaza Strip starting Wednesday morning, ahead of the Feast of Purim.
The curfew, imposed as a result of approximately 40 terror attack warnings, will be lifted Monday.
Meanwhile, the police have completed their preparations for Purim and are set to declare the highest state of alert, which is expected to remain in force throughout the holiday.
Roadblocks to be set up
Thousands of police officers, volunteers, Border Guard troops, and IDF soldiers will be deployed in city centers, resorts, parks, and entertainment venues starting Wednesday morning.
Security operations will be carried out across the country, with a special emphasis on preventing the illegal entry of Palestinians into Israel.
Roadblocks are expected to be set up, and police presence will also be boosted at bus stops across the nation.
Meanwhile, the police and other government bodies are preparing to curb the use of dangerous Purim toys. Those caught manufacturing or distributing dangerous toys in violation of the law would be brought to justice.
