SOCCER (FOOTBALL)

Israel’s men’s soccer team took home the gold Wednesday evening after beating the U.S. 2-0.

“The tournament was very good and played at a high level,” team coach Zeev Zeltzer said. “It was great to see so many good athletes on the field.”

Mexico won the bronze after Brazil was disqualified when one of its players shoved a judge in an earlier round.

The Brazilian team has decided to stay in Israel, despite the discipline committee’s decision not to reverse its ruling.

BASKETBALL

Israel’s basketball team won the gold after beating France 89-67 in front 1,000 fans in Raanana.
