GUSH KATIF - Several dozen Gush Katif settlers marched Sunday evening along Kissufim road from the settlement of Kfar Darom toward the Mor Bridge area, where the terror attack that killed Dov and Rachel Cole took place late Saturday.

However, the risky late-night protest raised the ire of army officers.

The march ended peacefully, but IDF officials said they were very upset at the marchers were forced to send large forces to accompany the them.

“The situation is tense as it is, and this type of march can only lead to a disaster,” an IDF official told Ynet. “It’s a huge risk to the marchers and certainly to the soldiers and troops securing them.”

At one point, the IDF has placed an armored vehicle near the Gefen outpost to prevent the settlers from marching along the road.

'We will not move'

The marchers protested the IDF’s supposed ineffectiveness in ensuring their safety. Soldiers were positioned along the road to protect the demonstrators; IDF officials said earlier the march was both illegal and dangerous.

In response the settlers blocked the path of army vehicles at the scene.

“We will not move, and we will not let you move either,” one protester said as the settlers surrounded an IDF jeep attempting to make its way toward Kissufim road.
