Settler runs over soldier
Gush Katif resident Oz Kadmon, known as leading anti-pullout activist, detained following pursuit
GAZA – A Gaza settler was detained Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of running over and lightly wounding an IDF officer near Kissufim.
The suspect, Oz Kadmon, is included in a “wanted list” of Jews prepared by security officials ahead of the upcoming pullout in an effort to identify potential troublemakers.
An IDF patrol traveling through agricultural land east of the Gaza Strip security fence in the Kissufim area noticed a vehicle speeding on a dirt road. An army officer signaled the driver to stop.
The vehicle stopped, but as the officer approached he noticed the male driver attempting to switch seats with his female passenger. At that point, the man continued to drive, hitting the officer and wounding him lightly.
The soldier was evacuated for treatment.
The driver was detained following a pursuit by army jeeps and was identified as Oz Kadmon, who resides in the settlement of Kfar Darom. The suspect has been detained in the past and is still facing ongoing court cases.
Police official slams ‘provocation’
Among other offences, Kadmon was suspected to be one of the organizers of anti-pullout road blocking protests.
A senior police source told Ynet Tuesday evening the incident marked a “classic case of people who could have entered through the road, but for reasons of provocation chose to act against the (Gaza) Strip closure order.”
About two weeks ago, Kadmon was interviewed by Ynet and said “we’ll do everything in order to disrupt the expulsion plan. Everything is legitimate in this battle.”
Kadmon, who is considered a top anti-pullout activist, maintains regular ties with right-wingers in the West Bank . Recently, his 15-year-old daughter was arrested after taking part in a road-blocking protest north of Be’er Sheva
