How many have left? According to an IDF document, more than 600 families - or about one-third of all Gaza families – have left their homes ahead of Wednesday’s deadline to leave peacefully.
Leaving Gaza
Hugs, tears as residents say good-bye / By Ahiya Raved, Kadim
30 residents of Kadim, in northern West Bank, lower flag, say good-bye to town that was home for 22 years; community secretary: "We are all family, we won't abandon one another"; in Ganim, rabbis take down mezuzahs, remove Torah scroll
As expected, most of the evacuees came from settlements in the northern Gaza Strip while “hardcore” settlers in Gush Katif communities continue to fight the pullout.
Sample list of evacuated communities:
Gadid: 63 families – 26 have left
Pe'at Sadeh: 19 families – 17 have left
Rafiah Yam: 27 families – 25 have left
Nisanit: 240 families - 230 have left
In contrast, very few families in bastions of hardcore resistance have left.
Neve Dekalim: 467 families - 150 have left
Atzmona: 83 families - 0 have left
Katif: 61 families - 3 have left
Kfar Darom: 73 families - 0 have left
Netzarim: 64 families - 1 has left
In all, there are 1,486 families in Gaza. As of Tuesday morning, 593, or 40 percent, had left peacefully.
IDF officers also slammed the Disengagement Authority, saying it failed to resolve problems associated with the pullout.
A senior army official told Ynet that in addition to the evacuation mission, the army has to constantly “put out fires left behind by the Authority.” The officer said the Disengagement Authority operated in a flawed, disorganized manner.
