The Palestinian Authority foiled a terror attack planned by a Gaza Strip terror cell early Monday, a senior IDF intelligence official told the Knesset's Defense and Foreign Affairs Committee Monday.
According to the report, the terrorists were supposed to depart from the Gaza town of Khan Younis.
Meanwhile, Palestinian forces have started to deploy in the northern West Bank. PA troops are expected to be deployed in the Jenin area ahead of the evacuation of northern Samaria settlements.
PA to IDF: Restrain settlers
According to Palestinian sources, the PA National Security service will set up seven roadblocks in the area, mainly on roads leading from the West Bank town of Jenin to the settlements of Ganim and Kadim. Each roadblock will be manned by 20 security officers in a bid to prevent terror attacks.
Meanwhile, the PA asked the IDF to restrain settlers and infiltrators in the settlement of Sa-Nur. On Sunday, the settlers assaulted Palestinians on several occasions in a nearby community. According to the Palestinians, several families were forced to leave their houses and stay with relatives as a result of the attacks on their homes.
Notably, Monday's Palestinian deployment is undertaken in line with coordination efforts between the two sides and following several meetings between Israeli and Palestinian officers.
